No matter what the company is, all of them are more and more digitalized every year. Currently, there is a deficit of CIO (IT director) and IT managers), and this tends to intensify over the next few years.
Says Márcio Miranda, Latam CEO of United HR, a company specialized in hiring senior management positions. In other words, an IT professional no longer works only in technology companies.
The technology technology has expanded to all companies. In 2024, for example, specialists in executive recruitment at United HR, foresee the emergence of more than 20 thousand vacancies in the metropolitan regions
The volume of information technology services increased by 6.8% in the accumulated between January and July 2020 in relation to the same period of the previous year, while the revenues of these same types of services showed an expansion of 8.8% in the same period.
In the comparison between July 2020 and July 2019, the volume expanded by 9% and revenues 11.8%, showing a consistent recovery in the sector after the only monthly retraction observed in May this year.
In view of the ones presented above by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), United HR points out, once again, the robustness of the growth trend in the information technology sector, which was already growing even in the face of the challenging scenario observed since 2015 for the Brazilian economy.
In this sense, while the service sector as a whole has shown a significant retraction since 2015, the technology sector has shown a strong expansion, in terms of volume and revenue.
The digital transformation of economic sectors, such as the financial, educational and retail sectors, combined with the expansion of fixed broadband and high penetration of mobile internet in the population, also considering the accelerating effects of these transformations in the face of the covid-19 crisis these are some of the factors that explain the expansion of the information technology sector even in the face of the fragility of economic activity, says United HR’s CEO, Márcio Miranda.
The profile of candidates for the IT area has changed over time, mainly in management positions. The IT director, for example, has a much more expressive and decisive role in organizations, says Gustavo Apostolico, CFO of United HR. “He is not only the professional who knows everything about the computer, the performance of the IT director is directly linked to the financial health of the company and the sustainability of operations as a whole,” says Apostolico.
